1600 Escort revving spontaneously

i have a ford escort softtop, 1600cc , she has started revving by its self, stalling at junctions, and now cutting out and starting again going up a hill help

Try disconnecting the air mass meter, just up from the air filter box. The car won't idle too well, but could improve things if its faulty.

As above or you have a vacuum leak (sucking air) into the inlet manifold. Check for cracked vacuum hoses (big and small).
