1890s attic corners

Hello. I need advice about what's going on at the chimney stacks in the four corners of the attic. This is an unheated 1890s attic

Thanks for your reply. Shall I focus on getting a new slate roof then later on redecorating. I feel like right now I could scrape the paint off and the skim that's loose. It's looks green and solid underneath some thin sections but other sections there's more movement when I press so Id have to remove more material. Also one of the corner pictures is a half height wall presumably timber and the plaster is not solid, it's expanded and cracked. I'm terrified to take that off and case there's nothing solid behind at all
 
Looks like there's been water ingress. Maybe get a roofer to check out the chimney weathering.
