Hello

I'm looking for some advice. I had to take down my old kitchen ceiling in a bit of a hurry last night ready for some work to be done today. I called for a skip and they asked of it has asbestos in it. I was not aware that lime plaster had asbestos. I wore a surgical mask to cover my mouth but now I'm concerned I should have worn something more robust. Attached is a picture of the type of plaster that was on the ceiling

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Its horse hair used to bind the lime plaster, so unlikely to contain asbestos.

Horse hair is more likely to have other toxins in it. Make sure you have a good wash as the lime will react with sweat and give you a "chemical peel". The risk to non-smokers from Asbestos is actually very low.
