1999 Zafira power steering noise

Hi,

Last few days I have started to hear a whine when turning the wheel. To me is sounds like the power steering pump. I've checked the fluid and its full. I've never noticed the noise before so assume something is up with it.

I've read that its not too bad a job to change. I'm not going to jump to change it i'll see how it goes but does anyone have any advice on changing it, what else to check?

The drive belt might be slipping/loose? Hopefully it only needs an
adjustment.

Electric hydraulic on them. if fluid is ok the motor may be on its way
just wait for it to go.
they are fitted to the astra's as well so open second hand options up.
the pump is referred to as ribbed or smooth

Thanks the fluid is black, does this use Red Dextron II or the green Vauxhall stuff?

Is it hard to remove the pump?
