1st Feb 25% tariff on Mexico + Canada, 10% on China

In respect of making Canada the 51st state it couldn't possibly be because Canada has more oil reserves than the states
I don't think Canadians would want to join the USA, what has the USA got to offer Canada, mass shootings and millions of Maga supporters perhaps.

That's good to know because I was looking at a pair.
Sound is good. Mine were wired and both faulted on this plus on one pair, one side stopped transmitting sound at all. Wireless might be a different story.

If he was trying to save lives in the states by reducing drug smuggling he would save more by putting tariffs on McDonald's, Kentucky fried and the like. More people die each year as a consequence of obesity in the states.
In respect of making Canada the 51st state it couldn't possibly be because Canada has more oil reserves than the states. I say this but I don't think the thicko thinks that far ahead.
He's only in power because of the education system there which allows those who think the earth is flat is allowed to vote.

Wise words.

No he has been placed in an impossible position.

- Do a deal with Trump, pi$$ off the EU
- Do a deal with the EU, pi$$ off trump
The UK has never been in a position to do any sort of deal that is anything but in the interests of the USA

It was always pie in the sky thinking from brexit supporters

A fatty tax. Someone better tell Rachel from accounts. She's missing a trick.

Assume the position.

Trump probably caved in

it seems Trump has agreed to stop arms trafficking into Mexico
Part of the temporary deal just announced by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is that the US will work to stop the flow of firearms south into Mexico - a long-running issue that has been a focus for the Mexican government.

Mexican authorities allege that tens of thousands of US-manufactured guns are trafficked south across the border each year, providing drug cartels with easy access to massive arsenals used to fight each other and the Mexican government.

Some estimates put the total at over half a million weapons each year.

In Mexico, it's extremely difficult to purchase a gun

But what does Trump want from Canada:

What role does Canada play in the U.S. fentanyl supply?

Almost none. In its fact sheet, the Trump administration says Canada has a "growing footprint" in narcotics distribution with Mexican cartels active in the country. But law enforcement and drug policy experts agree that Canada plays a minimal role in fentanyl smuggling into the U.S.

During remarks Saturday night, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said smuggling from Canada contributes less than 1% of the fentanyl street supply in the U.S. Data from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration supports Trudeau's claim.

In 2024, only about 43 pounds of fentanyl was seized at America's northern border. That compares with roughly 21,100 pounds seized at the southern border.

Before these tariffs were announced, Canadian law enforcement had already moved to target and crack down on fentanyl producers, hoping to curb the overdose crisis occurring in their own country.

@Notch7 You better get your login details ready. You can't catch a falling knife but you can miss out on the recovery.

We might find out at 8pm our time, because that's when Trudeau and Trump are chatting.
