Hi
Im having a extension to a semi detached house with the new 2 storey extention running down the side of the house. The soil pipe currently runs down the side of the house and is connected to a single toilet.

I wish to add another toilet in extension on the upper floor. Can i run the new toilet into this by using a double socket or do they have to run in at different heights.

Thanks

Whilst I agree that you can do that - as that is what the fitting is made for, I would point out that you can get issues if you fit the double socket horizontal - i.e. connect the two WC's together before you get to the vertical down pipe.

I went to a job about a month ago where they had fitted the double socket (with a fall on it) but on the horizontal not the vertical and the waste from entry 1 (into the double socket) was building up on the corner of where entry 2 came into the double socket... was causing the customer no end of problems and they were having to have their drains unblocked every 2 months or so.

Ever since then I will only install a double socket if it is totally vertical, otherwise I would di it always with two separate sockets, at different points on the pipe - preferably with at least 1-2 ft between them if its achievable.
