The good practise is keeping the mics working when in use so they do not go flat onscreen etc.

I don't need this explaining:
My guess would be an audio-visual hire company where it's generally considered good practice to put new batteries in radio mics before each performance.

My question was about what's the good practice for companies regarding dealing with all the part- (hardly-) used batteries.
