I was about to change a 2 gang 1 way light switch in the lounge for a brushed steel one.

I think I have got a 2 way switch though. Is it still possible to use this as a one way switch though? the new switch has terminals marked L, L1 and L2 for each switch. I have got 4 wires to connect (2 red and 2 black with red sleves) and an earth.

Does the earth need to be connected to the actual switch as it is now metal?

Hope I am making some kind of sense but totally hopeless when it comes to electrics.

Yes you can. Use L and L1 for your switch wires. Dont get them mixed up when u disconnect the old one. Red on L and the black (sleeved red) on L1).

And you must connect the earth to the faceplate.
