can somebody explain how a 3/4"" npt left handed foo foo valve works

npt is national pipe thread (US pipe thread standard close to BSP) but probably not used on foo foo valves - see above link.
3/4 and left hand are obvious!

No, No, No Gentlemen!. You all seem to be misguided as to the use of a 3/4 NPT fitting.
1st: NPT, for stripped threads, No Piggin Thread.
2nd, Foo Foo superceded by the anti gurgle addmitance piston.
3rd, Should only be used on AQUA MINARARRRLY products.
Top tip: Use lefthanded podger, with your tongue protuding to the left when nipping up,
