What have you got, and what are you changing it to? Sorry to be vague, but your not giving us a lot to go on here.

Buy the same model as the one you are replacing, and just connect each different coloured wire (5 wires if mid-position valve) to the same corresponding connection as the wire from the old valve.
If you do one wire at a time, you can't go wrong!
