A diverter will send the water to ch or dhw circuit but not both, so usually these are set up electrically so that they give HW prority.
Mid position valves can send water to ch or dhw circuit way as needed or when in the 'mid-position' both the ch and HW will receive heat.

Divertor valve will have 3 wires .... mid position 5wires sometimes 4 if it doesn`t need an earth
