Can some one help me.

1 - What is the difference between a 3 port diverter valve and a 3 port mid-position diverter valve.

2 - How can I tell which one I have? (has no markings on it at all except for Honeywell)

3 - It has a lever which has manual and auto - what is manual setting for?

Thanks for any help

Thanks chris r - I presume the mid position is the one that allows hot and ch? ( stops in the middle)

Without looking at the wiring of mine - It can do hot water on its own or hw and ch together, but not ch on it own. Do I have mid pos or div? seems to be something in between!

Something strange about you Mr pdfctu, either you are fixing other peoples heating/ plumbing problems using this site or you own several different houses or one large house split into flats or you move very often.

Which is it.? ;)

I buy properties to refurbish and develop. Nearly everyone I have bought has some kind of plumbing issue, which i try to fix, and use the very kind services of this site.
This particular question relates to my own house, as i cant put the heating on on its own, only when the hot water is on

It's a mid position valve, but probably controlled by a programmer that does not allow CH alone (common on older programmers that were intended to be used with gravity hot water). Change programmer or see if programmer has selector switch (gravity - pumped) at rear.
