I find it very strange that because the temperature is 30c (85) we have health warnings, and advised not to go out between 11 and 3. I recall from my childhood in the 50's and 60's the sun was shining for most of the 6 week school holiday, the temperature was hot enough to fry eggs on the pavement and tar to melt on the road. We rarely bothered with a shirt and in the unlikely event of sunburn calamine lotion sorted it. We had never heard of skin cancer and never used sun creams. The main difference was that we spent all our free time outdoors and not stuck indoors in front a screen. No doubt the boffins will say the records show otherwise, but we did'n't have computers to fiddle the figures, and I was there. It is my belief that today's panic about temperature is to advance the myth of global warming after two b****y cold summers
