70`s Stone Cladding.

With reference to that Stone Cladding that was very fashionable and fitted to the outside of houses and Bungalows in the 70`s and early 80`s, how was if fixed to the property ? Was if fixed with some special adhesive or just mortar, I vaguely remember seeing large cans of adhesive on sites were if was being fitted.
Also is it now consistent with damp problems ?

Something like a tile adhesive, and pointed with cement mortar. Although some people did use mortar to stick the cladding on

It's not itself a reason for any dampness
