97 escort 1.8 heater

can anyone tell me where to look for the heater matrix hoses on a 97 escort 1.8 turbo diesel?

(mainly the exit hose from the matrix - if i can get to that & attach a garden hose hopefully i can backflush the matrix via the engine & up out the expansion tank?)

done a normal drain & flush & new coolant, also new stat, no joy, heater still cold. If i leave the fan off & the temp control on cold for a while with a hot engine running, then suddenly open the knob to 'hot' & put the fan on, i get heat for maybe 30 sec then it goes cold again. imagining this is coz the flow is there through the matrix but slow?

Yes sounds like bad circulation, but double check the control flaps in the heater to ensure the cold air is completely closed and the hot fully open?

Not sure where the pipes go through into the heater.

the hoses go through the bulkhead and are a nghtmare to get at. i cant see the matrix being blocked personally, is the engine coolant dirty?
If the heating controls inside the car are working as they should then you probably have a water circulation problem. Remove the small return hose to the top of the header tank and see if you can blow through it
