A really good book

Painting and Decorating - beginners guide - step by step

I need to get myself an excellent book that can help me with the basics of painting and decorating.

Not bothered about advanced techniques at this stage, but a book that will give me a really good grounding.

Any ideas?

it seems to me you are wasting your time doing anything remotely manual.

i suggest you take a closer look at the " make your own curtains" forum.
or dressmakers for beginners.
