Hello

For years we have had an electric shower, and after a few years all of them have developed some kind of fault. It gets boring :( as another one has gone bust we are are using a rubber mixer from the sink to shower. It's actually better than any shower we have had!!

Time for a change I think. I would like to plumb in a shower that works direct from the hot and cold water supplies with some kinda mixer for the temperature. The sink is close by so running pipes etc will be a breeze. The water pressure is good enough. We have been using a rubber mixer off the sink and it's OK.

However, I'm sure I remember reading that it's illegal to add this kinda shower!!! I hope I'm wrong.

Any advice will be appreciated. Many thanks. Especially what to do with the electrics left from the old shower

no mate ... it's a standard one. actually we've had that for a few years and it's due an upgrade. but not for a while as it's working ok.

Does the type of boiler cause a problem?

TIA ... Mick

You can get a mixer shower to work off your cylinder such as this but you may need a pump if your flow is not very good.

As for the electrics get a sparky to disconnect the wire at the consumer unit.

Many thanks mate. Good outcome

I'm gonna start looking for a mixer soon.

Does a shower/tap/mixer have to be a specific height? or can I locate it at any height I want to?

Thanks

Mick

I usually fit mixers 1100 off the floor, slightly higher if your having yours over a bath.

Bear in mind however, the shower requires positive head from your water supplies in order to function. If you don't have this then a pump will have to be fitted.

If you do have enough positive head, but still want to fit a pump to increase the pressure of your shower, fitting a trevi boost mixer can be a cheaper alternative and less pipework required.

Thanks for the advice mate. Very much appreciated.

Already got a killer deal on ebay for a mixer :) I'll fit it and see how the pressure is, I suspect it's gonna be fine.

Thanks again ... Mick
