Acacia baileyana

Hello Gardener's

I have an Acacia baileyana 3.9m from my house. It must be 12 m high.

Would I be wise to cut thus down now as its so big and close to my foundations.

I love it. When it blooms its so beautiful.

How will chopping the top off help

It then becomes an oversize bonsai...
You then keep it a manageable size and the roots hopefully grow slower too

After I started this Post a neighbour/customer walked past and said just as you have.
Can I kill it if I go too mad?

set yourself a goal of say3 years to reduce it to final size, that way you get to see the new shape it wants to take, and gives it less of a shock each year. I am about to do the same to a tree in my garden, it is about the right time of year for mine, look on the net for best pruning time for yours.

It says mid spring (April) once the risk of frost has gone.

Do you think June is now too late?
