Hi
I as wondering if I'm correct the zone circuitry on the main control panel is just a normally closed circuit. I have been told this isn't the case as the PIR sensors are constantly sending signals to report back their status.

Wired sensors do continuously signal their status in the form of a current flowing through the sensor.

In the simplest the current flows when there is no motion detected and no current ( the contact in the sensor opens breaking the circuit ) when motion is detected.

In more complex systems the amount of current is set by the sensor or byy resistors fitted to the sensors. In this case no current is also an alarm state to ensure alarm activation if wires are cut.
