I'm converting some single storey farm buldings and am replacing the old roof with trussed rafters at 600 c/c. the insulation required is 150mm of cellotex which is deeper than the bottom chord/ceiling tie by some 50mm.

My question is, do I need to provide access to this space and if I do, how do I provide some kind of walking platform in order to move around the roof space? I am constructing 3 seperate roofs and would ideally like to be able to access them all, though to be honest I don't know why I, or a future owner, would really need to except for someday replacing the new wiring that is run up there.

Any thoughts or past experiences with this question would be gratefully received.

You should always provide access hatches for periodic inspections.

Not really very what it is you're doing tbh.
