The drive works perfect but having put it all back together , the touchpad doesn't work at all. Any ideas ?

Possibly, you've displaced or broken the ribbon cable.
Have checked the cable but it looks ok and is firmly seated. However , the touchpad is not listed in the device manager.
Any ideas why that would be ?
