Hi waiting to get advice from people on here
DIY amateur (at best) here.. so in our home the previous owners had a cut out recess in the hall flooring for a door mat. The doormat has been thrown in the last few weeks owing to wear and tear leaving a concrete "recess" (see pic)

To save having to find a mat the exact size (it wasn't standard) im considering filling rhe recess (actually raising that section of floor) by about 2.5cm using a cement mix, effectively (in theory) flattering it without adding extra flooring into the gap.

My question...
Is this a terrible idea?!
Considering the floor will be higher, it will be above the current bottom of the front door frame, will this cause issues?
What implications could this have for damp? Would it stip airflow for instance

Thanks, I might be looking for issues/concerns where there are none but been to get thoughts

Out of interst what would u say is the main reason it's a bad idea? Unnecessary work?
Cheers

The edit button appears at the bottom of your post, where "report" usually is.

Not sure how long it lasts for. Certainly some minutes. Might be half an hour or more.

Handy if you spot a spelling or other mistake

Whyever would you want to see a lump of screed in the middle of the laminate?

Would you have the tools to lay screed? The expertise?
