Hi. I have an outside light operated by a single switch, and want to control some deck lights (operated by a 240v-10v transformer) from the same point. I have purchased a double, two gang switch, but I am puzzled about how to wire it up. The wires coming in from the outside light are red (live) blue, earth (earthed to the box) as well as a yellow lead which did not come from the light, so must be part of the main circuit. The transformer for the deck has just two leads: brown (live) and blue.

How can I wire up the switches so they operate the two circuits independently...?

Thanks a lot

best to put is as a spur on the ringmain and switch it via a SFCU

hhave a look in for refernce, then you will see why it doesnt work. do as suggested in post above mine

Thanks for your help. It sounds like it might be simpler to operate both lights from the same switch - would that be possible without adding a spur?
Thanks again

not unless you take a neutral from the light fitting. at the switch there is only lives

and from what you just said, did you actually read what has been suggested

Thanks for that - and yes I did read what was posted. Unfortunately: "best to put is as a spur on the ringmain and switch it via a SFCU" doesn't make a lot of sense to someone without much wiring experience, and given that that was a specific reply to a specific question, I thought I would try asking a different question to see whether there was a different solution. I have looked through the "for reference diagrams, but they don't tie in exactly with what my problem was, hence the question. Thanks for all your help. I'll get an electrician in.
