hi, Im fairly good with electrical work but would like some advise on adding another outside light. We currently have a 500w halogen flood light with built in PIR , supplied by 1.5mm2 twin and earth cable, from a fused light switch, havent traced the cable yet to see where it is fed from, only traced to the switch. What i want to know is, Can another 500w halogen flood light with build in PIR be fed from the same cable, e.g: cable comes from light switch into junction box, 2 cable come from junction box, 1 to one light and 1 to another light? Any advise is welcome. thanks.

It's likely that it is switch fused connection unit, that operates the light.
If so, this will need a 5 amp fuse in the fuse carrier. and it can be done by either connecting a feed from the other outside light or taking the feed at the switched (FCU) but if you do the later try to keep both cables suppling the lights at a the same length.

thanks, prenticeboy. yes the switch is a FCU. When you say take a feed from other light, do you mean, a cable of 1.5mm2 coming out from the terminal block in the box on the back of the original light and going into the terminal block in the box on the back of the new light?
