Adhesive for blowing plaster

Hi Guys,

I was a little dissapointed finding that some of the plaster on the raised beds I built last summer has blown. There are lots of things that I should have done in hand sight, but you learn as you go.

I placed blocks on there sides in a gravel filled trench as the foundations and built on that, using lots of liquid membrane on the inside. I possibly should have used a layer of damp course, but never. The walls are roughly 3 ft high.

Basically one of the corners has cracked and I think some moisture is getting in. If I repair the crack from the inside, is it possible to drill in a few points and syringe in a liquid adhesive to give the plaster a fix again.

The plaster hasn't come away yet, it's just hollow in a small area about 30cm x 30cm if I knock on it..

On a seperate note, if I wanted to do what the damp experts do where they drill into a wall and inject a substance that creates a water barrier, is that somethign that could be done as a DIY job? Can you buy the stuff of does it need to be done by the pros. Bearing in mind this is an outside garden wall, not my house.

What “plaster” did you use exactly? You cannot use Gypsum plaster outside, it will most certainly fail in one way or another, I'm surprised it's laster a year. Once plaster or render has blown there is nothing you can do except take it off & start again; use a waterproof render this time.

Apologise, I have a tendancy to call render plaster sometimes. I did a 2 coat sand and cement render with water proofer and lime. All very much based on advice I had from yourseleves on this forum. I don't doubt the render for a second, it's purely because moisture has gotten in there.

Thanks and it looks like removing it is the only option. Any ideas about my question on injection a damp proof substance into holes drilled around the base?
