After relocating my Wireless alarm control panel, i now need a mains supply to power it and to keep the two SLA's charged up. I have sited it in my electric cupboard, but have only a single mains socket outside the cupboard, though near to it. Would it be possible to add another single socket from this socket, which would have to be sited in the electric cupboard? Any help much appreciated!!

It may be.

But if you want a socket in the electric cupboard, I would assume your consumer is in there to get a supply for a (double) socket.

If you have no experience in this stuff, you may wish to employ an electrician to fit it.

You cannot randomly connect new sockets to old ones without some research.

you do have a number of options.

A spur could be taken off one of the socket outlet circuits at the consumer unit to a fused spur to supply the alarm panel, provided that there is already not a spur at the consumer unit location, you could even take it from a lighting circuit mcb if suitably fused in a spur as before. you could take a cable from the socket outside the cupboard to the a fused spur position in the "electric cupboard" but if the cable is to to be buried in plaster or similar any situation then you will need rcd protection on that circuit.

If in doubt, call an electrician if you need advice or you dont feel confident or competant in opening the fuse board cover and adding to a circuit.
