How old is the house? Has there been an extension or other alteration? Is it a brick wall?

Stand back and show us the whole wall in another photo please. Indicate which is the external wall, and if there is a chimneybreast or fireplace.

This is our bedroom upstairs the gas fire is downstairs.the house is around the sixties. No extensions just lot of wallpaper covering thanks for your help

You're talking about the cracking?

is that three different corners you're showing us? Show us the whole wall please.

The blue wallpaper seems to be rippling as if it has either been wet, or the wall is moving, for example if two downstairs rooms were "knocked through," or a chimneybreast removed and the wall not correctly supported.

The square cracking I don't know. Might be wall movement, but I don't see the pattern in it. I was thinking of heat-related damage, for example if there was a chimney or flue in the wall. Did you use a hot-air gun stripper? That can crack or burst plaster if it gets too hot.

One of the pics shows some horizontal marks, as if there had been shelves that were removed and filler used.

Thanks for your reply the pics are from the bottom floor never been a gas fired there or room moved
