<div class="bbWrapper">Hello, just moved into my first house,<br />
I have GHW and pumped heating, so when i want only hot water, the radiators get hot too!<br />
<br />
I want to modify the system so i can have individual controll of HW and CH.<br />
<br />
I was thinking of upgrading to a Honeywell S plan, (in the link below)<br />

here is a picture of the proposed position of the motorised valves,<br />
i don't know much about heating/hw systems so if anyone can see a problem whith this please say!!!<br />

I have tried to identify all of the pipes!!<br />
currently there is no room stat and thermo valves on all rads, so i'm going to put a stat downstairs and take thermo valves off downstairs rads, and also put new cylinder stat on<br />

Advice Needed for Heating control system

<div class="bbWrapper">Don't take your rad stats off as they can still be used to control the temp of all your rooms individually - all you need to do is make sure you have a 'minimum flow rad', by that a rad that is always on to give your bolier something to work on - you can get spring loaded adjustable valves that will do this as well - see plumbers suppliers. the trick is to just play with the rad stat and room stat for a few days, you will soon get the hang of it. When your room stat calls for heat it will only warm up the rooms that need it - not all of them - easy!</div>

yes that is the cold feed, (just had a look upstairs) the pipe furthest on left is the vent above tank, also there is a bleed valve above the pump if this is what you mean (circled in pic)<br />

if i fit a 3 port motorised valve in the tee above the pump would i still need to move the cold feed, why would i have to move it for the S plan?<br />

-move cold feed to before the pump<br />
-put auto bypass valve in place of gate valve in bypass loop<br />
-fit bleed valve where current cold feed pipe is to be cut<br />
-fit Y plan system<br />

<div class="bbWrapper">just realised if I put the 3-port motorised valve at the tee after the pump the bypass loop will be after the motorised valve, so if the valve jams shut, there would be no place for the pumped water to go??<br />

think i'll stick to the original plan with 2 motorised valves.<br />

anyone know what to set the automatic bypass valve to when i plumb that in?<br />
