Hello all, we have a question with regards to our Ideal Logic Combi C 24 30 35 Boiler which
is in the loft of our new house.

The previous owners have left the Preheat switched on which means the boiler fires up during
the day and night which can be a nuisance because the boiler is above where we sleep.

Can we safely turn this off even though it's in the loft where it's very cold ? The manual says
that the boiler does have frost protection but we though that maybe it needs the Preheat as
well to add extra protection from frost.

Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb but we thought we'd better check with you guys.

Regards

Hi John,

yes turning the preheat off will not affect the frost protection, this is for hot water only.

Your boiler has inbuilt frost protection regardless of HW pre-heat settings, but be aware the pre-heat and the on board frost protection only protect the boiler they do not protect the pipes in the loft , you can add additional controls to protect the pipework if you want
