Advice on reconnecting an over-ridden room thermostat please

I had a faulty room thermostat (Drayton RTS 1) and a plumber came in and over-rode it because he couldn't get a replacement on the day. I've now got a new thermostat - same as old one - but cannot for life of me work out how to reconnect it. The plumber over-rode it in the wiring box I think, because the wiring in the thermostat looks as it should. The new thermostat doesn't 'click' because there's no power going to it, even when everything is switched on.
