Advice required on sale of goods act

Found this on Trading Standards:

The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 prohibit traders from misleading consumers about a product by giving false or deceptive information about a number of matters. To breach the majority of the Regulations, the misleading action or omission must cause, or be likely to cause, the average consumer to make a different transactional decision (eg make a purchase which he would not otherwise have made).
Still think if you knew upfront the longest length on the board described as being 400 - 2100mm would be 950mm maximum you would not have bought it.
Installing it nonetheless could be seen as accepting the product in the state it arived, but you are right to make others aware of this deception.

Just 'randomly' selected one of their offerings.

Key phrase is..

comes in random lengths of between 600mm - 1800mm.

For the goods to be acceptable, I would require half to be over 1200mm long and half to be less than 1200mm long. I would expect there to be close to a normal distribution, ie the same number at 1700mm long as 700mm long. Same number at 1500mm long as at 900mm long.

And you can also forget this particular product can be sanded 7 times!
with a 4mm oak hardwood layer (this can be sanded upto 7 times)
Manual no doubt, with a bit of sand paper in your hand. Rubbish and deceptive description. Proper sanding will remove 1 - 1.5mm per time
