Advice would be appreciated

Yeah mate, I done that using the isolator valves and the pressure was pretty much the same in the morning, when I opened the valves I heard the water rush back into the system and the pressure went to near zero. I’ve ripped up a section of laminate already where new radiators were fitted and there is no leaks there. I worried I need to rip up a hell of a lot of flooring etc to find this leak, if I do find it
What you heard was water running
OUT the boiler ,into the pipework .you have a leak on the pipework. If leak was on rad or the small lengths of pipe that are visible ,you would surely see it. Are pipes copper or plastic ?

They are a mixture of both, old exsisting rads are copper 8mm and new ones are 10mm plastic. Is there anyway of finding a leak without tearing my house apart?

Cheers

Not without specialist equipment ,thermal imaging , cameras etc. You state " new rads " ,how new ,could you get installers back ?

Here’s a thing, when my heating starts up all the rads heat up good but once the heating has been on for a bit the rad in my hall then goes cold. Am guessing this is like an air lock or something but could that be causing water to go out the blow off valve to outside?

You told us no water was coming out the prv pipe outside ???
The new rads have been in for over a year without any problems

Sorry David ,you did mention this in the original post. With regard to the hall rad ,are you saying this heats up like ALL other rads ,but then goes cold ,whilst all others stay hot ? If so I would lift flooring in the hall. Is it click laminate that can be re layed ?

Yeah sorry, I’ve checked the blow off valve shortly after starting heating and seemed ok, I’ve tied a bag to it now as well. Yeah Theres a small hatch in the hall floor as we are luckily enough just about to put a new carpet in and all is dry although the hatch is about 30cm from where rad is but I’d have expected to have seen some water??

Thanks for your help with this

Your welcome mate. Bear in mind it doesn't take gallons of water to escape from a sealed system for your gauge to drop from 1 bar to O bar.

I don’t know how much the top up valve let’s in but it takes a good 7 or 8 secs with it open full for it to read about 1.3bar pressure. So if I had s leak somewhere and i looked around that area I thought I would have seen something but maybe am wrong.

Well I suppose if you have been topping up every day there must be quite a bit somewhere .how many radiators are in your premises ?

Well there's a lot of pipework there .check your house insurance policy ,some have trace and detect cover. There are specialist companies around ,but very expensive , who have the kit to trace leaks with less dusruption. Be good if your insurance covers you .

Yeah that would be a god send, I’ll check my insurance but usually insurance companies eventually get their money back from a claim by grossly increasing your premium.

Thanks again for your time and help tonight, you must have better things to do.

Good luck with it mate ,hope you get sorted. Do let us know how you get on.
