AEG Oko Lavamat 74630

Having been working perfectly, halfway through a wash cycle error message E40 came up and the door light started flashing. Despite switching off and then trying different programmes I still get the same message and the machine doesn't function.

Any ideas?

I know but we have checked the door and it is closed. I have now called a repairman who says that it is likely to be the electical switch in the door which has failed.

Sounds reasonable the machine "thinks" the door isn't closed properly.

E40 is a user error code. If the electronics are interogated they will display and engineer error code which narrows down the likely fault.
