My parents' oven has one of those things where a cooling fan comes on after the oven is turned off, and stays on until the oven's cool. It has begun to stay on for long periods of time, although it stops from time to time and makes a strange noise (as though it's struggling to start) before restarting.

Is this likely to be the cooling fan controller going (http://www.spares4appliances.co.uk/products/s4ag0406-thermal-cut-out-lux.html), or something else?

Thanks for any advice - this is the first time I've come across this type of oven.

It depends on the model of your cooker but if its a single cavity cooker and its 3 or more years old then pull the cooker out half way from the housing undo the screws either side to expose the stat and selector switch now look at the wiring by the selector switch it may have a cut out with four thin wires going into it and its wrapped around this wiring harness and will proberley have a burn mark evident if you have this then thats the probelm if not post your model details

Its the under counter oven with the seperate grill with the control knobs down the right side in which case you need to remove the right hand side panel and change the fan stat which is behind the control panel with 3 connections a smaller stat is beside it ignore that one
