Just to say thank you for your help regarding my potterton boiler descaling.

The boiler is just purring away very quietly , infact you can't even hear it It needed 2/3 of Fernox DS-3 and flushed it out 5 times with fresh water then 2 litres of Sentinel X100.

I even serviced and clean all the lockshield valves while the system is drained as couple of them has a small leaks and couldn't believe how clean they were!

I am glad that I was able to help you by explaining what you needed to do to treat your system yourself.

Its always difficult to diagnose faults when non experienced people are describing the symptoms but I can often get an idea of whats wrong but I cannot be right in every single case.

Now you have a complete spare boiler which, as I told you, was not required!
