l took a downstairs radiator off in the hallway for decorating and have just put it back on..
Opened the bleed screw whilst it was filling up and shut it off when water started coming out but now the radiator is cold also the pipes to it are..
l only have one more radiator downstairs in the dining room and that's been cold for a long time with no heat at those pipes..
The hallway use to get hot before l took the radiator off so l suppose l have air in the system somewhere .
l have shut off all the upstairs radiators on the lockshield and manual valves and left downstairs open but still cold and no more air is coming out off them..
Opened upstairs valves again and checked for air in them but they are ok..
What can l do to get the downstairs radiators hot again..
Very much appreciate some help and advice as l stuck on what to do next.. Thanks

looks like you have a blockage maybe in the form of a 'air lock' preventing the water from being circulated. (I presume the pump is running).
Before replacing the radiator it would have been useful to open the 'flow' and 'return' valve in turn and slowly run a bucketful of water off each.
This would allow air to escape a lot easier from the pipe work at the same time the pipes are being filled.
You may find the flow water from one of the valves is restricted due to blockage other than air.
Also you can gain valuable information by bleeding the radiator with one valve closed and one open and then again in reverse.
A solid blockage will not allow either water or air to escape under one of the two conditions.

Right l've got the hallway radiator hot by putting the pump on the highest speed so all the radiators upstairs are hot and the hallway.
The only other radiator left is the dining rooms and that's stone cold and so are the pipes as far as l can feel them as they eventually go up inside the side of the chimney wall..
l have turned down all the lockshieds on all radiators to try and balance the system but the dining room radiator is still cold..
If l have a blockage in the pipes going to the dining room radiator how can l unblock it, or if it's air how can l release it...

Also should l return the pump back to the medium speed....

Have you tried turning all the rads off apart from the problematic one?
It also sounds like it might need some proper balancing.

Tryed that already closed off both valves on all the radiators apart from the problem one and still cold..

Looks like the problem radiator will have to come off and open the valves into a bucket to see if there is a blockage, Give the rad a good flushing out at the same time aswell. Still curious about the balancing issue though as you have fiddled about with the locksheilds a fair bit.

Turned all the radiator lockshield screws back by one turn.
Surely some heat should be at the pipes at least...
