No matter how often I bleed the radiators and get the air out, within a day the problem comes back. Can anyone say how best to track down the problem and how to deal with it. The header/expansion tank seems to function OK.

if the problem is frequent, you may need to fit an automatic air eliminator.this is a valve incorporating a porous gland, which allows air to escape but retains the water.
1 drain the system, loosen and remove the vent valve with the key provided with the system.
2 cover the threads of the air eliminator screw with PTFE tape to ensure a watertight joint.
3screw eliminator into the radiator, leave the adjusting screw finger-tight and refill the system.
4if large quantities of air have to be released, undo the adjusting screw with a screwdriver.
5 remove screw and gland; depress valve with screwdriver to bleed reassemble, with screw finger tight. hope this works.

many thanks - planned for a weekend job
