Hi
I have a problem with air noise in my C/H pump.
Boiler is Glo Worm 18 hxi on open vented system.
Recently, the pump makes gushing sounds until the boiler burner shuts off. Then, until the pump noise begins to fade until it sounds normal and then swithces off via the boiler command.

I have bled the radiators but there is not much air in them!

Could the boiler be introducing air?

Regards

the system could be drawing in air.
has the f/e tank got enough water in ?
is it letting water into system through the cold feed pipe ?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. After writing my message I went up to the airing cupboard to have another look at the system. I removed the cover from the 3 way valve and there was a loud click and the indicator lever sprang back to its start position! I have just started up the system and I think its now OK. Maybe the valve was stuck midway between positions? Not sure how that would cause air to be intoduced though.
But to answer your question, the F/E tank is full (ballcock controlled)

Hi all,
After writing that this problem has gone away - it actually has not!

I think the boiler is inducing the air because when the burner shuts down the air dissapears after 30 seconds
