Airbrick visible from inside

Greenbrigade

Hi, we have something I think might be a problem. Just had some blown bricks replaced and an airbrick fitted. There is unfortunately now a visible gap from inside the house. How worried about this should I be? The skirting board is about 5-7mm from the floor

The air brick is meant to vent the void under the floor. So its in the wrong position. The gap under the skirting board should be sealed.

is filling the gap sufficient or do we need to remove the airbrick and use a smaller one? It is positioned above DPC so cannot go any lower.

Ideally the airbrick would be below floor level- take it external ground is too high to get the brick below DPC?

The airbrick won't be ventilating underfloor as well as it should be, if you don't seal the gaps under the skirting board you'll have a horrendous draught come winter time

TYVM for help so far - the external ground is too high to get brick below doc. We will certainly seal the gaps and will probably look at some kind of todent cover on the airbrick other than this is there anything we should be concerned about regarding this - could it cause damp etc if it is coming in partly above the floorboard rather than underneath?

Thats where air bricks go on timber floors - just below the floor boards - especially on older houses.

There should be a liner though, to duct the air through the wall, under the boards and between the joists, then you wont see any light, but the air will be coming into the house just the same.
