Probably my 2nd or 3rd all time favourite MP. A union man with the GPO, but reading his books it became clear he wasn't one of the Red Robbo or Len McCluskey types, he fought for higher wages and better working conditions obviously, but also sold modernisation and increased productivity to a difficult workforce, he was the 'old' face of 'new' labour, had he taken over after Tony Blair, I would probably have voted Labour (again).
After reading one of his books which covered his time in Slough as a postman, it became clear we had a number of mutual acquaintances (my dad included) and I emailed him in that respect and he was courteous enough to reply and share a few reminiscences.
If anyone hasn't read his series of books, I highly recommend them, he has lead a truly remarkable life, his early days illustrating how he would have leaned towards socialism, and how it shaped him as a compassionate MP, a remarkable man.

I've seen him many times on TV, but tonight was an eyeopener, you could see the pent up anger and frustration as he listened to the chairman of momentum make excuses for tonights results, then, in reply, he let rip, **** me did he let rip into the momentum guy, about how they had destroyed the labour party.

Corbyns a dead man walking, he's a goner, but I genuinely hope that for Labour's sake, they ditch this momentum ****e, because if we are going to be restricted to a two horse race, I for one would prefer they both had four legs.
