any alarm installers out there who could give me a ballpark figure for what i should be paying to have a wired alarm system in a small shop. 2 pir's and internal and external sounder. Shop is just one room about 30 foot by 20 foot . thanks

Did you want it communicated (contacting a Central Station)? This makes a huge difference to the price as there are loads of new rules that alarms must follow, if you want police response.
Maybe you just want a speech dialer to call a list of phone numbers, when the alarm goes off, and play messages at them...
If it's audible/bells only, you can settle for a really cheap system (but I'd recommend Dual Tech detectors to reduce false alarms rather than PIRs).
