Having a problem with the above boiler. Baiscally the heating isn't working, have tried bleeding radiators etc, but on the odd occasation the boiler works the house does get warm. The boiler only seems to light the once when switched on if on CH mode, then switches off after a few seconds. Turning on the tap for HW leads it to light again, then switch off, then try and light again etc before either giving up or staying a light for a few minutes ( and hence giving heating for half an hour or so)

Any ideas? (as my first quote from the gas company has frieghtened me off replacing it!) And will it be expensive to repair?

Its not possible for me to guess whats wrong with your boiler.

Few repairs that I do in London come to more than £200 and about half are less than £100. But I am not avaricious and big cities are a competitive place.

In your area it might well take someone two hours in a four wheel drive vehicle to get to you and the same to get back again so a labour element of £150 could be totally reasonable.

On the other hand if you are in Perth itself then perhaps labour of £60-£90 and a part at £100 might be expected.
