Alternative to RSJ in loft conversion

Hi all

Is there a viable alternative to using RSJ's in a loft conversion? I've read more and more builders are using wooden beams instead but i'm struggling to find much info online in regards to the types of beams used and how they would be fitted.

Any advice will be much appreciated
