Aluminium bifolds

Morning all.

I have assembled some aluminium bi folds which was easy enough. However, there is an additional length of extrusion which is about 100mm shy of the overall width of the bifolds. It looks to me that the only place it could go is at the top.
Having looked online it seems it could be called a header.
My question, is this required. I ask because it then makes it too deep for the overall opening.
It's only for a single story extension which has a catnic in above already. Cheers.
