My aluminium sliding windows scrape and grind when I open and close them. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Not sure what type of sliding windows you got.If it got a runner on the bottom with wheels running on it,they usually have a grommet which need to be remove and adjust with screwdriver inside the hole and turn it clockwise or anti-clockwise.If you got sliding secondary glazing,clean the groves with WD-40 or do you mean what is known as in England, sliding sash window ? Need more information............
