I have purchased a Samsung RSH7UNBP H American Fridge Freezer, to which the Water Line Filter has to be mounted externally. I did think that there would be a space in the rear of the model for this, but alas no.
However, the gap it is going in, there is no room to mount this at all.

Would it be safe not to have the filter in place, and would it cause a massive problem later?

And, if I have to install one, can it be placed on it's side under the plinth of the unit next to it?

Thanks for you help.

The purifier needs to be upright and fitted in the direction of flow.
So you cannot leave on it's side.
I had a similar restrictive space problem with one, ended up putting a trap in the floor and mounting it underneath.
But you could leave it unconnected, might get a fault light coming up on the fridge panel, but everything should still function.
