My front lawn always looks bad due to dogs peeing on it, particularly close to the pavement.
Is there a deterrent like ammonia that I can use which won't hurt the grass, but will deter dogs please?

Water.
A dog pee is high in nitrogen so water it down regularly.
If left on the grass will go greener then you'll get scorched bits.

Setup a sprinkler that works off of a motion detector that only detects something within your property lol

If you don't want the dogs peeing on it then fence it off.
Bigger dogs, lions poo and anything else like that will just encourage them.

Do not use ammonia so close to the pavement.
It can affect an animals respiratory system. It can cause burning in the throat, nose and respiratory tract, which can lead to breathing issues.

By the way, try asking google - lots of answers.
