I've just moved into an unfinished house. Amongst other things I've noticed some of the window and door recesses are not straight (see photo). The top is not quite as bad as the bottom, so it's curved on the way down. It's about 300mm out at the bottom.

Is this normal and is it solvable?

Down to sloppy plastering in all probability. If so, curable by hacking off and replastering, although you'll also need to weld on an extension to to vinyl floor as the kick up will now be too short. On the other hand you might find it's the masonry beneath which is the problem and that the PVCu frame has been (over) trimmed to compensate in which case it will require a bit of brick butchery and an extra PVCu trim in addition to the rest
