Having knocked off old rendering (3 layers thick and about 3"!) we've uncovered an old window lintel and doorway lintel (both 5"x5" in concrete) which although theres no movement, theres no support underneath or between the two (which have a gap of around 7/8" between them) other than the overhang into the walls at one end of each lintel (almost 200mm overhang).
Can you strap the two lintels together to form a strong support for the masonary wall above ,,, or do they need to be removed now the problems been exposed and an RSJ fitting?
We've immediately supported the lintels with Acro's to be safe/sure/supported, just in case, but I don't want to have to put a support in the middle of the opening.
