hi people,my daughter has just moved into her first home (single mother 2 children) and money is very tight, attached to her home is a single garage which she would like to use as a dining room(the floor is block paving)...she has been told she would need to install a damproof course (which i would guess would cost a few thousand at least but im just guessing,is there any kind of alternative damproofing available that is easier and cheaper to do than a traditional damproof course i.e some kind of sealant or rubberised type of covering etc that she could then cover with underlay and carpet,we/she would really appreciate any and all advice. many thanks in advance.

London Mike, many thanks for that link,at face value it certainly looks that it is indeed possible to do what I was asking about,I shall certainly be looking at it in more detail now."even" if one of those ideas last's just 4/5 yrs,for the cost of the materials involved it will be no big problem to redo it again as and when required.
